Test Results

How and when to obtain test results from the surgery

Getting your test results

Results for most blood, urine and stool tests take 5 working days to be released. Once they have been reviewed by a clinician, they will be available to view online via Patient Access or the NHS App. You are welcome to ask our reception team to provide your results, but please call in the afternoon when phone lines are less busy. If your results are normal we will not contact you, we will only get in touch if the results need further discussion.

Please note that if a test was arranged by another service (e.g. a hospital clinic) then we will not be able to give you the result. In this scenario please contact the hospital team that arranged the test.

Sometimes hospital clinics will ask your GP to arrange tests on their behalf. Unfortunately, we are unable to do this as it creates a great deal of unnecessary work and delays the results getting to the clinical team that requested them. UCLH can arrange blood tests at the same phlebotomy clinics used by the practice (for  example the Kentish Town Health Centre on Bartholomew Road) and the results go directly back to the hospital team. Patients attending clinics at The Royal Free Hospital will need to arrange test via their own phlebotomy service. Please remind your hospital team of this when arranging tests to avoid delay.
